Robust Technical Assessment provided
Odour Consultants and Air Pollution Services were commissioned to undertake the odour assessment and air quality assessment in support of the full planning application for a new residential estate.
Project Outline
Odour Consultants (ODC) and Air Pollution Services (APS) supported the planning application for a new residential estate in Newquay.
The key concern with regards to odour was smoke from a nearby log kiln (biomass boiler). For air quality, the main concern was pollutant emissions from vehicles using local roads.
Our Role
ODC produced the odour assessment for the planning application, forming one of the key documents for the application. The assessment involved multiple odour assessment methods, including reviews of local planning applications, analysis of local odour complaints, a qualitative odour risk assessment, odour surveys (sniff-tests), and odour modelling.
Significant concern was raised by the Council due to the odorous smoke. ODC provided technical responses to all concerns that were robust, providing the Council with full confidence in the results of the assessment.
ODC are delighted to have been involved in this application, which was subsequently granted planning permission.
