Robust Technical Assessment provided
Odour Consultants were commissioned to undertake the odour assessment in support of the full planning application for a rural residential development.
Project Outline
Odour Consultants (ODC) supported the planning application for the rural development, comprising barn conversions in close proximity to an adjacent farm. The key concern was odour effects from the activities carried out on the adjacent farm, which included several cattle sheds, slurry pits and other odorous sources.
Our Role
ODC produced the odour assessment for the planning application, forming one of the key documents for the application. The assessment involved multiple field odour surveys and a qualitative odour risk assessment, based on the source-receptor-pathway methodology taking account of local meteorological conditions.
Significant local objections were raised, prompting in-depth reviews by the Council. ODC provided responses to all concerns that were robust, providing the Council with full confidence in the results of the assessment.
